Exhibition for whom?

The Gulf of Finland Exhibition has a project group that has representatives from Russia, Estonia and Finland. The project group had it´s first meeting in August. One of the main things discussed were the target groups of an exhibition.

It is not an easy task to design an exhibition that would interest everyone and this is not even the aim of this exhibition. It is one thing to do something for the kids and those who are already experts on Sea issues. The project group decided that as a starting point of the exhibtion will be following target audiences:
- Open space with people passing by - wake up interest to find out more
- Travellers - realize that Gulf of Finland and it´s drainage area are vulnerable.
- Seminar visitors - with or without prior information, raise new information/results
- Families - bring out ideas on what to do together and how to influence

Based on these target groups the work on the key messages has now started. As the exhibition is a change to raise issues common to all three countries, it is important to create a common ground for the work. One thing is sure, less is more, as people are overloaded with information already now.

Open to influence

The exhibition process is happily taking your input in reagards to the target groups, content, materials etc. Write a comment and we will take it into account!

Gulf of Finland - exhibition for citizens

Why this blog?
The Gulf of Finland Year 2014 is a common project of Estonian, Russian and Finnish experts. More about the year. This year gives and opportunity to raize important issues and highlight the achievements in three countries. Also it allows us to take more actions towards protecting the Baltic sea. I have the honour of developing an exhibition about the Gulf of Finland together with my colleagues and the exhibition core group. This is a challenging journey, as it is not easy to create a meaningful exhibition for citizens that would fit all three countries around the Gulf of Finland. For this reason, I have decided to share the journey with you.

Materials everywhere

The first steps on the way of developing the exhibition have been taken. This has included gathering existing educational materials in Finnish, Russian and Estonian around the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland in particular. Why this has been done, you might wonder. The idea of the exhibition is to highlight existing materials and gather them as part of the virtual exhibition so that those interested in the topic, can get further information easily. How this will be done, is yet to define. One thing is clear, that once you start looking into the "sea of materials", it takes you to a nearly endless journey. Now the count is in 250 materials and still the number will grow. If you have eny tips to interesting materials, comment and those will be included in the exhibition.
